What to do if there is a risk of COVID-19 contamination?

          hand contamination

COVID-19 is an infectious disease par excellence and requires a certain number of precautions when one is exposed to infection by the virus. It is transmitted in particular by the droplets of saliva projected into the air (by sneezing or coughing) and by the hands.

First, if there is a risk of contamination, washing your hands is essential because it is one of the main vectors of virus transmission. It is recommended to wash your hands with soap or an alcoholic gel at least once an hour.

Also, do not facilitate potential contamination by respecting basic hygiene rules such  as complete absence of physical contact (kissing, handshake, etc.), sneezing and coughing in your elbow or respecting a distance social welfare of more than a meter with others. It is also strongly advised not to touch your face .

Whenever possible, you should simply avoid these risky situations by staying at home as much as possible while limiting your travel and doing telework as much as possible (subject to authorization from your employer).

In cases where you must be outside or be in contact with objects or people, you can also wear disposable gloves to protect your hands.

While it may seem ideal to wear a mask, specialists believe, apart from nursing staff and patients, that it is not particularly useful to put on one, creating in particular a false sense of security and therefore a potential lack of vigilance.

If despite all these precautions you still experience symptoms, contact your doctor by telephone or the dedicated hotline at 8002 8080 if the latter is not available.
