Snow: tips for safe driving
When it snows, it is better to make arrangements and be more cautious than usual on the road. To circulate safely and avoid any accident, here are some reflexes to adopt.
If you really have to take your car , consider the tips below to arrive safely, and in the best possible conditions.
- To drive, put on comfortable clothes that will not block you in your movements. Ditto for shoes, opt for a pair in which you feel good.
- Slip into your car some essentials : blankets, thermos, water, snacks, a flashlight, a phone charger, a first aid kit.
- Get information on road conditions before driving: you will know if some routes are preferred.
- Before you set off, remove the snow and frost that covers your vehicle . Clear the windshield completely, your visibility must be total. All of your windows, but also your lights, must be cleared.
- Check that you still have enough washer fluid . The latter must be "winter", so as not to freeze.
- To start, go gradually. If the road is not too snowy, go first. On the other hand, start in second if the road is not cleared .
- Even if your car is equipped with snow tires , adapt your driving . On the snow, drive slower than normal and increase the safety distance with cars ahead of you. Avoid acceleration and sudden braking, opt for softness.
