          Innovation and Sustainability:

          Betic
In a construction project, as in any project, the study phase is crucial. Depending on the type of building in question and the purpose for which it will be used (school, office, industrial building, restaurant, rest home, ...), the needs of the user can be very different. This reality is at the center of the thinking of the engineers who get down to the task at Betic, at the beginning of any project. 'Before At the beginning of each assignment, I attach great importance to meeting with the client to understand his needs, expectations and sensitivity. It is common that the owner is not the end user, so this is important says David Determe, managing director. At Betic, it is only when this first step is accomplished that engineering teams develop the concept. The techniques are then studied according to concepts dear to the consulting engineers' office: quality, service, listening and sincerity. In this vast undertaking that is the construction of a building, it is essential to consider all the team working on the project. D. Determe says: 'We have to work together. Collaborate with the entire project management team. Indeed, the type of techniques put in place will also depend on other actors. The style and orientation that the architect wishes to give, for example, is important. If the final project is very contemporary, the techniques will be chosen accordingly. The same goes for the stability engineer: the technique must be able to integrate with its concept. And of course, the good direction of the project will depend on a good understanding of the expectations of the owner.'Offices designed in our image: open and pleasant'To design its new offices, Betic proceeded in exactly the same way as its owners.   ' We wanted a project that looks like us. Open and pleasant offices. We designed the spaces in a way that promotes team spirit. Determe. It was the growth of the company that allowed the team to embark on such a project. The concept was positively received by the Administration Communale de Dippach who was seduced by the plans for renovations. As the building is an old farmhouse, the engineers were keen to preserve its heritage, preserve its architectural character while modernizing it.Today, more barn, but offices that are simple to use and stamped class B following energy restoration, including the efficient insulation of facades and roofing. Also worthy of note is the installation of a Canadian well, an integrated photovoltaic installation, and fully LED lighting. All workstations are equipped with a system of energy saving at the computers level.   ' We hunted energy losses. All these steps allow us today to produce more energy than we consume for a good part of the year, "explains D. Determe. To propose singular technical solutionsGilles Christnach and David Determe, the two managing directors of the office, agree with their teams to dare to propose solutions that go against the uses, while remaining simple to use and effective. The underfloor heating system developed as part of the Biodiversum nature and forest reception center    located in Remerschen illustrates this well: the technical concept studied by Betic on this project, a first in the GD of Luxembourg, has earned them the '   Green Energy Award   delivered by Greenworks. At Betic, we are not afraid to go forward! It's been several years since a BIM * team was launched, making 3D one of its many battle horses. The office, which will celebrate its 15th anniversary in December, does not intend to stop in its tracks and it is with great enthusiasm that it considers the years to come.' When we approach a project, we do it in a global way, that is to say taking into account all the constituent parts of the latter. Our strategy is punctuated by 3 stages, with the same aim of proposing the best solution according to the thermal envelope of the building, its orientation, its opaque and glazed surfaces: 1. reduction of consumption, 2. optimization of use and finally, 3. the study of optimal techniques.
