          Rural and Craft Museum

          (at 38, Rue de Crauthem)

Since 1999, the museum has been showcasing in a large classified farmhouse from 1849, a wealth of details about rural life in past centuries.

Departments are logically and clearly organized around specific themes, such as ploughs, sowing, and harvesting, and are presented to visitors. All agricultural machines have been restored and can be set in motion.

The farmer’s garden consists of four rectangular ridges bordered by boxwood. It includes, among others, vegetable plants, spices, and medicinal herbs.

A special attraction is the reconstruction of a medieval forge and a village forge in excellent working condition.

The farmhouse is arranged to demonstrate the art of living of former times.

Many workshops provide insight into the meticulous and laborious work of former village craftsmen.

The permanent exhibition “Anvils, Firebacks and Ovens” (in the house “a Mechels” opposite the Rural and Craft Museum) is the logical continuation of the theme “Ancient Metallurgy”.

A café-restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and a playground are also part of the museum.

          Carriage Museum Grand Duchess Charlotte

It displays about thirty different carriages, including six vehicles from the Grand-Ducal Court, among them the great Gala Coupé used during the wedding procession of Grand Duchess Charlotte and Prince Félix in 1919.
