          • Backup before repair: no data lost

            News

            "We're going to format the computer." That's not what you want to hear when you send your laptop in for repair. Yet that's exactly what a client was told this year, for a faulty keyboard under warranty. Photos, documents, bookmarks, settings… everything was at risk.

            Here's how we went about it:

            🔍 an inventory of the important folders and configuration items (bookmarks, passwords, settings);

            💾 a full backup to an external drive, keeping the folder structure intact;

            🤝 when the laptop came back, a guided restore: the configuration first, then the files.

            The result: no data lost, a computer back "just like before" and a reassured client. A proper backup is still the best insurance against breakdowns.

            A computer that needs repairing, a new machine, or simply need some clarity? I can help you at home or by video call.

          • From Windows to Zorin OS: a calmer computer

            News

            Does your computer keep interrupting you with notifications and ads? 😅

            This year, I helped a private client switch from Windows to Zorin OS, a Linux system that looks a lot like Windows. We first checked his software and devices, then installed and set everything up.

            The result: a calmer computer and a stress-free start.

            Could you make the switch too?

          • No more TV channels? Try a frequency scan first

            News

            No channels left on your TV? Don't rush to the shop just yet… 📺

            Recently, a client lost all his channels after a wrong button press. He thought his equipment was done for.

            In fact, the satellite receiver was working perfectly: the channel list had simply been erased. A new frequency scan, a few minutes of patience, and all the channels were back. Nothing to replace.

            A simple procedure, as long as you know it exists. 😉

            A problem with your TV, your receiver or your computer? Send me a message.

          • Occasional remote support, no subscription

            News

            A small computer problem, but no wish to take out a subscription for it? I understand. 😉

            A client came to me after leaving a provider whose plan was too rigid and too binding for his occasional needs. With me, nothing needed adapting: I connect remotely only when he authorises it, just long enough to fix the problem. No travel, no subscription, only the time actually spent is billed.

            Need a helping hand from time to time? Send me a message.

          • Installing a new TV decoder

            News

            The operator's new decoder has arrived… and it's still sitting in its box?

            That was the case for a client: a brand-new device, but impossible to install on their own, and therefore no TV. I came round and connected everything (decoder, television, operator's network), carried out the activation and linking to the account, then checked the channels and basic functions.

            Nothing spectacular, but a TV that works again, without any hassle, always feels good. 😉

            Is a device giving you trouble? Send me a message.

          • Computer won't start? No need to buy a new one

            News

            Your computer won't start anymore? Don't panic… and above all, don't throw it away just yet.

            A client was in exactly this situation. First step: recover all of their files and put them somewhere safe, before touching anything. Only then came the diagnosis: a faulty component was causing a short circuit inside the machine. I removed it, and the computer started up just like before.

            No new computer to buy, and a client who went back to work on their usual machine. In the end the backup wasn't needed… but it's better to have one and not need it than the other way round. 😉
