L’Atelier des Petits Philosophes offers philosophy and art workshops in Luxembourg for children and teenagers aged 6 to 15. Freedom, courage, justice, emotions, relationships with others…
Each workshop explores a topic that relates closely to young people’s experiences, encouraging them to examine their own thoughts, listen to different points of view and develop their own reflections.
Depending on their age, participants explore these topics through stories, images, experiments, interactive debates or role-playing activities. They take a position, look for examples, explain their ideas and may reconsider their point of view as discussions progress.
The workshops help young people to:
• Expand their vocabulary and find the right words,
• Organise their thoughts and express themselves more clearly,
• Develop their ability to argue and strengthen their critical thinking,
• Listen to different points of view,
• Gradually find their place within the group.
Language is at the heart of this approach, but it is not the only means of expression. Drawing, writing, collage, modelling and role-playing also provide ways to explore a question and express thoughts or feelings that can sometimes be difficult to put into words. Art is therefore not simply used to illustrate the discussion: it is an integral part of the reflection process.
