          About Häremillen Sàrl

          Häremillen, Ehnen wine estate

Ehnen is home to around twenty active winegrowers, including six independent winegrowers.

The Häremillen wine estate is one of them.

Founded in 1988 by the Mannes-Kieffer family, it first occupied the derelict buildings of the old Ehnen mill, hence its name.

This is an old watermill that was used to make flour for the entire region.

In 1996, a new, modern and functional winery was built a few hundred metres from the mill.

Equipped with modern winemaking equipment, the new building features stainless steel vats fitted with a cooling system that allows temperature-controlled fermentation of the musts, thereby ensuring maximum preservation of the natural aromas of the different grape varieties.

The large vaulted cellar on the former mill site, with its natural rock floor, houses the oak barrels used mainly for ageing the Pinot Noir red wine.

The mill building itself has undergone major restoration work. Since 2005, the estate's wines have been tasted here. The only thing left to witness is the old mechanism attached to the water wheel, the last vestige of intense human activity.

Wine tasting at the mill by appointment only, for a maximum of 15 people.
