          SERVICES

The LGBTIQ+ Centre CIGALE is a professional centre operating under an agreement with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Diversity. Active since 2002, it works by, for and with the LGBTIQ+community in Luxembourg.

Its work is built around four key areas: Support and Guidance, Training and Information, Building and Empowering, and Reflection and Sharing, all focusing on sexual and gender diversity.

Our services are aimed at LGBTIQ+ people, their loved ones, and anyone interested in these topics.

          SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE

CIGALE is a community centre providing support and guidance, offering a “safe space” for all LGBTIQ+ people in Luxembourg.

“D’REEBOUSTUFF” is a welcoming space for the LGBTIQ+ community. It offers a place for discussion and activities, a space to rest, study or work, as well as coffee, biscuits and a library.

The space is open to everyone on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Our team of qualified social educators offers individual consultations by appointment to people directly concerned and their loved ones.

          TRAINING AND INFORMATION

CIGALE is a centre of expertise offering various training courses on sexual and gender diversity for different professional sectors, including formal and non-formal education, social services, public administrations, youth services, medical and psychosocial services, as well as businesses.

We also offer awareness-raising workshops for young people of all ages and take part in projects and campaigns in schools.

          BUILDING AND EMPOWERING

Our support and empowerment groups meet once a month on a fixed date to share their experiential knowledge, support one another and strengthen their ability to take action.

These groups actively contribute to our projects and activities. They also engage with professionals during training sessions and other events, helping to highlight and value their experiential knowledge.

          REFLECTION AND SHARING

          Marc Grond Library

The LGBTIQ+ Centre CIGALE received the library of political activist Marc Grond as a bequest. The library bears his name in recognition of his commitment.

It is the only library in Luxembourg specialising in LGBTIQ+ topics and offers more than 1,300 publications on bodily diversity, sexual orientations and gender identities.

The books in our library are available in four languages:

          • Luxembourgish
          • French
          • German
          • English

Our collection includes novels, essays, biographies and autobiographies, comics, dictionaries, short stories, plays, magazines, videos and many other resources.

The library provides free public access to more than 1,000 books, documents, reports, research papers and DVDs.

We also organise themed evenings, meetings with authors and various cultural events, including exhibitions, film screenings, theatre performances and more.

We support and implement projects and initiatives in line with our mission that contribute to strengthening the visibility and inclusion of LGBTIQ+ people in Luxembourg.

          RIGHTS

CIGALE is committed to promoting and defending the rights of LGBTIQ+ people.

We listen to the needs of our community, collect data and prepare reports containing analyses and recommendations. These reports are submitted to the government in collaboration with our empowerment groups.

          TESTING

Every Thursday, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., the Luxembourg Red Cross is present at the centre to provide testing for HIV, hepatitis C and syphilis.

Consultations are free of charge and available without an appointment.
