The Luxembourg National Theater was founded in 1996, following the tremendous momentum generated by “Luxembourg – European City of Culture 1995.” The TNL aims to serve as a bridge in the internationalization of theater in Luxembourg, which in turn finds its true national identity in a European environment.
By opening up opportunities abroad for all Luxembourg artists working in the theater and inviting internationally renowned artists to Luxembourg to participate in co-productions and creations on the Luxembourg stage, the TNL serves as a showcase for all national dramatic art.
True to the activities it has developed since its creation, the TNL has two vocations: to be a theater of language and literature, as well as a theater of opera and contemporary musical creation.
