It was only at the age of 30 that Francis Stoffel, an employee at the Federation of Artisans after completing studies in business and management, decided to break away from his previous career and make a radical change.
Drawn to artisanal work, mainly using natural materials, he quickly turned to the roofing trade—a profession that would allow him to work with such materials and produce work that is both beautiful and durable. He started a new training program, became an apprentice, and began again from scratch.
In 1988, he obtained his master craftsman certificate and, on September 1, 1988, founded his own roofing company, Entreprise de Toitures Francis STOFFEL-REDING, a typically Luxembourgish business.
At first, private premises in Peppange were more than sufficient for Francis Stoffel, who worked with the help of a young apprentice. However, after just one year, moving to a rented hall in Berchem became necessary as the number of workers had already grown to six.
This number continued to increase steadily over the following years, and in 1996, the company moved to Livange into a renovated former farm.
Today, the company, which works exclusively within Luxembourg, has reached cruising speed. It employs 36 workers, including 2 apprentices and 9 office staff of 9 different nationalities. The company is particularly proud to count among its employees: 3 staff members with over 25 years of service, 7 with 20 years or more, 4 with between 15 and 20 years, and 8 with between 10 and 15 years of service.
