Working with children at Maison Relais Billek is characterized by the concept of “non-formal education.”
In some of the activities that take place in childcare, the educational objective is not immediately obvious. However, even activities such as free play, simply being together in a group, or having lunch can be used to develop social skills or convey societal values and norms. These contexts therefore provide a specific space for experiences, engagement, and learning, contributing to the overall development of young people.
With their own goals and a variety of content, methods, and working approaches, the work with children offers a broad educational program. Non-formal education thus becomes a characteristic element of the work at Maison Relais, which is understood as an educational place where planned pedagogical interventions take place.
The task of the educational staff is not to organize the day into strict segments or to “entertain” the children, but to accompany them in their daily life. We create spaces where children can freely develop and follow their own needs and interests. In this free development, we constantly provide stimulation and support the children where we consider it necessary. We help children search for answers by allowing them to unfold freely, offering them a variety of opportunities to explore and discover, whether in nature, in the construction area, during homework, or in many other activities…
