Friendship Colours of the Chars Store is much more than just an ethical fashion shop and online boutique. It is a solidarity-driven initiative and a subsidiary of the Bangladeshi NGO Friendship, aimed at empowering women in the remote northern regions of Bangladesh known as the chars—river islands that are vulnerable to flooding and erosion.
Committed, Artisan Fashion
Each item offered is the result of traditional craftsmanship: weaving, natural dyeing, embroidery, and sewing are all done by hand by women trained through Friendship’s programs. These creations combine traditional textile techniques with contemporary design, offering clothing, accessories, and home goods that are both unique and meaningful.
A Nomadic Boutique, a Lasting Impact
Since 2019, Friendship Colours of the Chars Store has opened several pop-up shops in Luxembourg. Today, you can explore their world at 10 rue Beaumont in Luxembourg City, in a warm, welcoming space showcasing our latest slow fashion collection. Every purchase directly supports employment, training, and financial independence for the women artisans of the chars.
A Community of Solidarity
Beyond fashion, Friendship Colours of the Chars Store embodies a commitment to fair trade and a circular economy. The environmental responsibility is reflected in the use of recycled materials and natural dyes. The social responsibility is seen in the opportunities provided to the women through training and fair wages. Each product tells a story of resilience, dignity, and hope.
