          About CJF Lëtzebuerg Asbl

          CJF Lëtzebuerg Asbl, based in Howald, was founded in 1987 as part of the reorganisation of the Caritas Luxembourg Federation.

          For more than 37 years, we have been working alongside children, young people and families in Luxembourg. Formerly known as Caritas Jeunes et Familles, we offer services, support and spaces designed to promote the well-being, development and fulfilment of children, young people and families, regardless of their age, situation or life journey.

          Since our beginnings, our governance has been based on a voluntary board of directors made up of committed women and men. Several presidents have succeeded one another: Canon Dr Paul Klein, Erny Gillen, Pierre Jaeger and Marc Hengen. Since December 2024, the presidency has been held by Christiane Schaus.

          Action close to people’s needs

          Over the decades, we have supported and accompanied the development of the socio-educational sector in Luxembourg.

          We actively contributed to the establishment of the maison relais concept and today manage 28 education and childcare services (14 day-care centres and 14 maisons relais) across 19 municipalities. These facilities provide a caring and stimulating environment for both pre-school and school-aged children, supporting their development while respecting their family and school realities.

          However, our work does not stop there. We have also developed a range of specialised services focused on educational, psychological, therapeutic and social support. These services aim to support children, young people and families during times of transition, vulnerability or recovery. We intervene through:

          • specialised services providing educational, psychological, therapeutic and social support, including supervised housing, day and night care homes, family support, emergency reception and support for learning difficulties;
          • services promoting youth, inclusion and solidarity, such as youngcaritas (camps, training courses, solidarity-based activities), streetwork, youth centres, and support for children from families seeking international protection.

          Our new identity, in continuity with who we are

          In 2025, the association officially adopted the name CJF, which had already been widely used internally. This development is accompanied by a new visual identity and a signature that reflect our human-centred vision.
