After 7 years of professional experience in Banking, as a Chief Legal Advisor for some of the major banks in Luxembourg (i.e. ABN AMRO Bank Luxembourg SA, MeesPierson Luxembourg SA), my desire to practice, as well as the wish to give myself a new challenge, led me towards the independent legal profession.
Born in Veghel, The Netherlands, I studied Child Psychology and Dutch Civil Law at the World famous Leyden University (1980) and in 1981 commenced working as the legal advisor for several Organisations of The United Nations in Burundi and Rwanda (i.e. United Nations High Commissioner for the Refugees, United Nations Industrial Development Program). One of my major tasks was the formulation and negotiation of standard contracts in the field of technology transfer. These first years of my professional experience in Africa confirmed my social awareness and emotion that runs as a red thread throughout my professional career.
Afterwards, I came to Luxembourg where I gained a solid experience in banking and financing as Chief Legal Advisor for ABN AMRO Bank Luxembourg SA and MeesPierson Luxembourg SA before I joined the Luxembourg Bar Association.
Fluent in four languages (Dutch, French, English and German), I deal with Dutch, Luxembourg and International issues of Civil and Corporate Law and assist clients in the set-up of financial vehicles. Through knowledge of regulatory issues, I assist my clients to be compliant with local legislation and regulations and advise on all matters related to the set up of an enterprise in Luxembourg (license requirements, labour law etc).
